This beautiful Jacobean house in rural Cheshire provided the stunning backdrop for Ophelie and Adam’s wonderful day in October of last year, showing just how perfectly the past can sit alongside the present. In the splendorous colours of Autumn, as the leaves were turning red, the weather played its part adding to the drama of the day which couldn’t have been more perfect.

Whilst Adam got himself ready a short distance away at his parents house, Ophelie spent the morning in one of the exquisitely styled bridal prep rooms at Dorfold. The rooms are an absolute delight for the bride and her party to prepare themselves, with ample space to strut, squishy sofas to relax and the most stunning Jacobean windows that flood the room with the most wonderful natural light. There is also an adjoining hair and makeup room to complete the entire delightful experience.

I was absolutely delighted by the wonderful choice of suppliers selected by Ophelie and Adam, sourced from images I had taken of previous weddings. It is always such a pleasure to collaborate with talented, trusted and completely wonderful people that work so well together. I feel it makes such a difference to have the best possible suppliers, capable of working together to pull off the most flawless day.

Speaking of stunning contributions, let’s talk about Ophelie’s dress… Wow! With its fabulous over skirt giving so much movement to the shots and then with the top layer detached for the evening, it was transformed into a sleek sexy streamlined sensation. She looked absolutely stunning, precisely the right amount of flair and class, perfectly encapsulating all that is exceptional about Dorfold Hall.

The day itself went absolutely perfectly even though the weather kept us on our toes guessing as to the conditions for the walk to the ceremony barn. For me a bit of cloud cover can be fantastic, it can add an extra dimension of drama and romance and as I love to say, don’t worry about a bit of rain… that is what umbrellas are for! Relax, let them do their job and lift up your dress if you have to avoid any puddles.

As it turned out, Adam and Ophelie were perfectly chilled out and we stepped out in the drizzle to capture some magical moments in Dorfold. This is what it’s all about, quiet moments walking around the grounds, these are the moments I absolutely adore. Outside in the natural light, raw, relaxed, un-staged. Couples together tenderly embracing, having fun, chatting, laughing being themselves. Enjoying the moment at the end of what can be months or years of planning and preparation.

The celebrating went on late into the night, with dancing, partying and games galore. I’m always happy to be asked to stick around for the evening’s revelry especially if it’s important to my couples that I’m there to capture friends and family joyously ending the day on a high.

Believe it or not photographers, love, cloudy slightly drizzly days, because this cloud acts as a wonderful soft box in the sky and makes our images look super beautiful bright sunshine is harsh, so please don’t ever worry if you are having a autumn winter spring ceremony you really will get the best slide and the best images.

It was lovely to work with all the amazing staff at Dorfold who are always so kind and supportive... I am really looking forward to getting back there soon.
